FACTOID: The 2014 Herbalife Triathlon race location in Torrance boasts a course that L.A. will use for its bid for the 2024 Summer Olympics! The City of Torrance is also looking to the future and the possibility of an ITU World Cup event, which has never been held in the Los Angeles area.

It’s easy to see why L.A. has chosen this course for its Olympic bid - the start and finish of the race was on the beautiful Torrance Beach, and racers had the opportunity to run segments through the entire city, including residential streets, Miramar Park and the beachfront path. The competition events included Olympic, Sprint and Super Sprint distances, relays, two youth courses and a 5K running race.

The event schedule included a TriathlonLAB Health and Wellness Expo with vendors, retailers, workshops and course talks, all of which were free to attend.

Herbalife caught up with Frank Scotto, Mayor of Torrance to learn more about the event. “These are the types of events we want to bring to Torrance,” said Mayor Scotto. “We value opportunities that help us raise awareness about the City of Torrance, promote health and wellness to our residents and businesses, and provide a positive economic benefit for our local hotel, food/beverage and retail businesses."
